A Simple Guide to Self-Care

These days with all that's going on in the world it's easy to get sucked into low energy spaces and forget the importance of mentally and physically taking care of yourself. Self-care has become such a pillar in my life as i'm building my career. Focusing on goals, expectations, and crazy deadlines while trying to be the best version of myself can lead to a lot of pressure if you're not careful. So i've learned to lean of self-care to keep me sane while i'm on my journey. Here's a few of my tips and tricks.

Meditation:

I can't stress how much meditation has centered me and I don't like to start my day off without it. I can feel the difference in my energy on days when I don't. I normally take 15-20 mins in the morning with whatever mantra comes to me first and zone out. It's really the best way to start your day off.

Move:

Moving your body is an easy way to shift your energy around  and increase the feeling of happiness. This doesn't mean you have to hit the gym but find something that works for you. For me it's Ballet Beautiful, it's easy, I can do it from home and it also happens to be a killer workout.

Unplug:

We're all guilty of spending way too much time on social media and even though it's apart of my job I still have my limits. I've become really mindful about the amount of times I check my Instagram in a day and on most nights by 9pm my phone is on do not disturb and put way so I can fully embrace and enjoy the present moment without any distractions.

Create:

Panting, coloring, or even putting together outfits that I can shoot for my blog are all a form of escapism that allow me to feel mindful and productive.

Gratitude:

You can't have more until you're thankful for what you already have. I like to keep a journal by my bed to make a list of all the things I have to be grateful for. Try this and you will instantly shift your energy.

Pamper:

You have to make yourself feel good before any outside source can. I always  treat myself like the queen that I know I am and an easy way to shift into the queen vibe is to have an at home spa day.

Nourishment:

The right food can and will lift you up and make you feel all types of amazing. My go to's are green juice, green tea, massage kale salad with mangos, and anything made with chickpeas.
